Web design

Web design is a process of creating a graphical concept for either a static or dynamic website. The concept is then converted into a format readable by a web browsing application like Microsoft's Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. EDB has a full spectrum of web design services. We create, implement and maintain static and dynamic websites and also design web elements like banner advertisements, mass mailers, portals etc. EDB has many years of experience in web design and we keep up to date with the latest technologies and standards. The internet has become a vital marketing tool for businesses and an interesting and well functioning website is increasingly a necessity. EDB also does Search Engine Optimization on all the websites we design free of charge. We have a set price of R990 for a completely unique, DOM compatable static website of less than 3 pages.

Flash design/development (Rich Internet Applications)

Flash is a vector based animation, graphics and development application released by Adobe Systems. It's powerful animation features make it an ideal format for creating visually appealing applications and the built in development language, ActionScript, opens up a world of interactivity. Programmes (ie websites etc) created in Flash are considered Rich Internet Applications. Although Flash is an excellent tool for web development, it has some down sides that should be taken into consideration when choosing the platform. Adobe estimates that 98% of internet users have the Flash Player installed .

EDB has had considerable experience with Flash since it's inception and we have kept up with it's development all the way. We are able to create websites, applications, components and animations. We currently develop in the latest version of ActionScript (3).

Illustration

Illustration is the point at which art loses it's prerogative of deciding for itself and moves in to the corporate sphere. EDB has some of the most talented artists in SA, capable of producing illustrations that will fit any necessity. Whatever the subject matter. Artwork, infographics, diagrams, logos. All completely original and one of a kind. All artwork is provided to the client in either high resolution bitmap or vector format.

CMS customization / implementation

A Content Management System (CMS) is a web based program that allows the client to update and manage the content of their website without needing to know anything about web coding. The CMS has an admin backend that allows both the developer and the client to modify their website through a web interface. Most CMS's use PHP and MySQL to create dynamic pages. Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization is an important part of creating a successful website. Search engines like Google or Bing use codes called spiders and robots that crawl the web collecting info. Search results are based on a number of factors, mostly consisting of frequency of keywords. There are a number of ways to increase your search results, using headers, alt tags and many more. The most important part of a website in terms of SEO is the page's meta tags. These are tags in the HTML document specifically designed to help robots and spiders find and index the web page. EDB offers free SEO on all the websites we design. We do not facilitate paid clicks for any search engine at present.

Animation

Animation production is a huge job to undertake. EDB has experienced Animators who have produced work for TV and film. Web based animation is an extremely underused medium in marketing. Entirely web based cartoons like Salad Fingers have proved there is a huge market for web based media and with Flash already inergrated on the web it is a medium with abundant potential. EDB predominantly uses Flash for animation whoever we also have Toon Boom operators for larger projects.
